Alice Amin Siman Israel is a Mexican data scientist, AI developer, entrepreneur, writer, and advocate for women's rights and the LGBT community. She is the CEO and founder of Thuum, an Applied AI Lab.

Early life and education

[edit]

Alice A. Siman was born in Tuxtla Gutiérrez, Chiapas, Mexico. She is the granddaughter of Amin Siman Habib, founder of Corporación Radio Núcleo, a prominent radio network in Mexico. [1] [2]

Career

[edit]

Alice began her career at Corporación Radio Núcleo as a National Sales Executive and later served as Chief Operating Officer (COO), overseeing operations across 18 radio stations, playing a key role in expanding the company's radio portfolio and leading the efforts of the company's modernization efforts.[3] [4]

Her career in broadcasting ended when she was terminated after publicly coming out as a transgender woman because of gender discrimination. This pivotal moment prompted Alice to transition into data science and artificial intelligence.[5]

Subsequently, Alice founded Thuum, where she has led projects integrating AI into various sectors, including real estate and marketing.[6]

She is also the CEO of Datability MX, a Data Science Lab.

Publications

[edit]

Alice has published significant works, particularly addressing LGBTQ+ issues in Mexico.[7] [8]

Manual de Supervivencia 4.0: Las PYMES en los Tiempos de Inteligencia Artificial This book provides insights and strategies for small and medium enterprises (PYMEs) to navigate the challenges and opportunities presented by artificial intelligence technologies. [9]

El Lado Oscuro de la IA This publication explores the hidden implications of artificial intelligence, focusing on how algorithms influence decision-making and shape individual futures. [10]

Advocacy and community work

[edit]

Alice is an advocate for gender equality and LGBT rights. She actively promotes inclusive workplaces and has been involved in initiatives supporting these causes.[11][12]

Mampride

[edit]

Alice was one of the activists that coined the term "mampride," which combines the derogatory term "mampo/a" (used to describe the LGBTQ+ population in Chiapas) with "pride." This term aims to reclaim the narrative around LGBTQ+ identities and promote self-acceptance and visibility within the community.[13][14] [15][16] [17] [18]

Earlier in her career, she collaborated on Proyecto Posh, where she contributed as a stage coordinator for an electronic music festival.
