engineer and academic, currently serving as the Associate Provost for the Berkeley Space Center and Director of the Center for Information Technology Research in the Interest of Society and the Banatao Institute (CITRIS) at the University of California, Berkeley. He holds the Liao-Cho Innovation Endowed Chair and is a professor in both the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences and the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at UC Berkeley. Bayen is also a Faculty Scientist in Mechanical Engineering at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. His research primarily focuses on control, optimization, and machine learning with applications in large-scale transportation and mobility systems.
