Earl Alexander Bailey Jr (born July 27, 1993), professionally known as Alexander the Don and Alexander Bailey, is an American musician, content creator, and social media personality. Born in Augusta, Georgia, and raised in various parts of the United States due to his parents’ military service, Alexander eventually settled in Lake Worth, Florida, where he began his music career. Known for his dynamic performances and impactful social media presence, Bailey gained widespread recognition during the COVID-19 pandemic when he and his wife, Rachel Bailey, went viral in 2023 as “the breastfeeding couple.”.[1] Alexander’s work spans across the music industry and digital content creation, making him a versatile figure in modern entertainment.
Early Life
[edit]Bailey’s early life involved frequent relocations due to his parents’ military service. He lived in Hawaii, New York, and Louisiana before settling in Lake Worth, Florida, as a preteen.
Alexander began exploring his passion for music. Alongside his cousins, he formed a group called HDB, which stood for Hundred Dolla Billas. It was through this early experience that Alexander crafted his dreams of becoming a musical artist and entertainer. Despite his musical aspirations, Alexander was deeply invested in sports during his high school years, playing on his school’s basketball team. However, after graduating from high school, he shifted his focus entirely to pursuing a career in music[2]
Bailey’s early music career involved street performances, distributing CDs, organizing local parties, and performing at events to build his reputation. Before adopting the stage name Alexander the Don, he was known as Freez or Freez Alexander, under which he began establishing his presence in the local music scene.
Career
[edit]2018-2020: Music beginnings as Alexander the Don
[edit]From 2018 to 2020, Bailey dedicated himself entirely to his music career. He focused on local performances and released several projects that helped solidify his presence in the music scene. These projects included mixtapes like A.T.D (2019) and It’s My Turn (2019), as well as the album A.T.D 2 (2020). Additionally, Alexander collaborated with fellow artist Sawce Bastard to release Don 3:16 The Holy Sawce.
During this period, Bailey partnered with fellow music artist KEVIN NOVA to open a recording studio. Together, they funded the studio and launched their own label, NOVATION Records. Alexander’s growing influence in the Florida music scene[3] led to multi-city tours within the state. His hard work and dedication paid off when, in 2019, he was noticed by an industry executive and offered the opportunity to go on a midwest tour with Montana of 300. However, the momentum of his touring and live performances came to a sudden halt in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
2020-2022: Rise to social media fame
[edit]With the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, Bailey and his wife, Rachel Martinez (now known as Rachel Bailey), saw an opportunity to pivot from traditional music and vlogging to focus on social media content creation. They launched the Bailey Bunch across TikTok, YouTube, and Instagram. The name Bailey Bunch stemmed from Rachel’s background as a daily family vlogger, but the couple decided to shift their focus entirely to short-form couples content.
Their decision to move away from family vlogging and concentrate on creating relatable and humorous couples content resonated with audiences. The Bailey Bunch quickly gained traction, amassing millions of views across all platforms. Despite their focus on social media, Alexander continued to pursue his music career during this period. In 2021, he released the album Universe and the EP Daddy Duties, demonstrating his ability to balance both his music and content creation endeavors.
2022-Present: Viral fame: Rachel and Alexander 'The Breastfeeding Couple'
[edit]In 2022, Alexander and Rachel Bailey, already known for their social media presence, achieved viral fame under the moniker “The Breastfeeding Couple.”[1] The story began when Rachel, a former daily vlogger, and Alexander filmed a YouTube video discussing an unusual situation during a cruise. Rachel had forgotten her breast pump at home, leading to painful engorgement. To ease her discomfort, Alexander physically drank the breast milk, a moment they candidly shared online.
This unique story caught the attention of TLC’s My Strange Addiction: Still Addicted[4], leading to their feature on the show. After the episode aired, their story quickly went viral, resulting in appearances on various talk shows such as Steph’s Packed Lunch, The Kyle and Jackie O Show[5], and Fox Soul. Additionally, they were featured on other popular shows like Love Don’t Judge[6] and My Extraordinary Family[7] on YouTube.
Due to their viral fame and the attention their story garnered, Alexander and Rachel collaborated on a book titled Milkn’ It,[8] which delves into their journey and the deep-rooted meaning behind their unique lifestyle.
Despite the whirlwind of media attention, Alexander remained committed to his music career. In 2023, he released the album EXPERIENCE. Meanwhile, the couple, now known as Rachel and Alexander Bailey across all social media platforms, continued to create content, consistently going viral for their relatable and entertaining posts.
