Alaric Naudé(Japanese: 能出 新陸, Korean: 노종례, Chinese: 鸕聰叡) is a Korean university professor and linguist, specializing in applied linguistics, sociolinguistics, and sociology. He holds a Ed.D. and a Ph.D.[2][3][4]
Profile
[edit]In recognition of his thesis "The Naudé Hypothesis: Catalysts of Dialectal Mutation: The Fundamental Driving Forces that Diversify or Destroy Languages.", he received a Ph.D from the Central University of Nicaragua and a Ed.D. from Universidad Azteca.[2][5] Alaric Naudé is a linguist fluent in multiple languages, including English, Japanese, Korean, and Chinese. He mainly studies the cultures and languages of East Asia, including China, Korea, and Japan, and is also working on the Jeju language, a member of the Koreanic languages, which is listed as a Endangered language by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization.[5][6]
As a professor at Seoul National University of Education, he was in charge of partnership programs between Griffith University and the University of Queensland. As of October 2024, he is a professor at Suwon Science College and University of Suwon.[2][4][7][8]
He holds active memberships with The Heterodox Academy (USA), Cognitive Linguistics Association (Netherlands), Global Listening Centre (UK and USA), National Research Foundation of Korea, and Japan Association for Nursing English Teaching.[5] He also serves as president of the City University of Paris (France).[9][10][11] He is active in a variety of fields and is actively engaged in research and activities that transcend the languages and cultures of East and West.
Episode
[edit]In 2024, when Naudé heard about the game "Assassin's Creed Shadows" and Yasuke, he thought it was just a "video game with poorly researched characters," but he was interested in the discussion and investigated the situation, which led him to the work of Thomas Lockley. Disappointed by the poor understanding of Asian culture among Westerners and the terrible portrayal of Asia in the game "Assassin's Creed Shadows," he decided to take action to rectify the situation. Initially, he was planning to create web articles, but decided to write a book as a more effective method. The production budget was 0 yen because there was already a large amount of materials from Japan's Sengoku and Muromachi periods. And in fact, the book was written for 0 yen.[12][13] He revealed that the book will first be self-published in Japanese and English in October 2024, and will be republished by a publisher in multiple languages, including the Korean version, at a later date.[14]
