AeroItalia Regional (formerly known as AirConnect) is a Romanian regional airline headquartered in Bucharest.
History
[edit]AirConnect was incorporated by 7 private investors driven by the desire to serve the country's regional market. It started operating on August 26, 2022, offering domestic flights in Romania, connecting regional airports with nearby hubs and holiday charters directly from regional airports.[1]
At the beginning of 2023, a connectivity plan for Melilla was proposed with Málaga, Madrid and other European cities such as Porto, Lisbon and Faro.
On November 6, 2023, it was announced that Italian airline AeroItalia acquired a 93.86% stake in AirConnect.[2] In April 2024, the airline was rebranded as AeroItalia Regional.[3][4]
