The Adani Ahmedabad Marathon is an initiative spearheaded by the Adani Group and Indian Armed Forces. It was started in November 2017, and the marathon completed its seventh edition in November 2023. The Adani Ahmedabad Marathon offers marathon, half marathon, 10K, and 5K runs.[1]
In its early editions, the Ahmedabad Marathon drew nearly 20,000 participants. Subsequent editions have around 17,000 runners taking part. In 2021, the marathon implemented a time-slot-based system for the event with 8,000 runners across two days. Since 2021, the Ahmedabad Marathon has been awarded the "Global Marathon Event List - AIMS World Running".[2] In 2022, the event has 12,000 participants.[3]
In 2023, the Ahmedabad Marathon was relocated to the Sabarmati Riverfront, and it has 22,500 runners. Industry stalwart Dave Cundy assumed the role of race director.[1]
The Ahmedabad Marathon has the campaign "#Run4OurSoldiers", with a platform intended for participants to write to individuals serving in the Indian Armed Forces.[4]
