The actress attack case is based on the incident on February 17, 2017, when an actress in the South Indian film industry was sexually assaulted and the assault scenes were recorded on mobile phone while she was on her way to Ernakulam from Thrissur city. [1] Malayalam actor Dileep was under the shadow of suspicion from the very beginning in connection with the actress attack case and was eventually arrested by the police, remanded for 85 days and later obtained conditional bail. The prosecution had alleged that Dileep had hired goons to attack the actress, in which he committed serious offences, including sexual assault. [2]

Background of the case

The actress was attacked while she was on her way to Ernakulam from Thrissur. The tempo Traveller in which the actress was travelling was driven by a driver named Martin. [1] The main events related to the case took place on February 17,2017. The goons started the attack by hitting the van behind the vehicle in which the actress was travelling. The gang of attackers, including a criminal named Pulsar Suni, had been roaming around the city with the actress in a car for more than an hour. In the meantime, they brutally assaulted the actress, recorded the footage on mobile phone and then abandoned the vehicle and fled.
