255 Medium Regiment is part of the Regiment of Artillery of the Indian Army.

Formation

The 255 Medium Regiment was raised on 15 May 1976 under the command of Lt Col R.N Bhagat, SM in Binaguri West Bengal. The first Commanding Officer was Lieutenant Colonel R N Bhagat, SM. The unit was equipped with 75/24 Pack Howitzer. The regiment has subsequently converted into field regiment and currently it is a medium regiment handling 155mmFH77B02 (BOFORS). From the time the unit was raised, it has mastered 6 different equipment.

255 Medium Regiment has 49 years of glorious history in serving from the Himalayas to the jungles of North-East covering length and breadth of the country. Unit has also served in United Nations Peace Keeping Force(UNAMSIL).
