255 Medium Regiment is part of the Regiment of Artillery of the Indian Army.
Formation
[edit]The 255 Medium Regiment was raised on 15 May 1976 under the command of Lt Col R.N Bhagat, SM in Binaguri West Bengal. The first Commanding Officer was Lieutenant Colonel R N Bhagat, SM. The unit was equipped with 75/24 Pack Howitzer. The regiment has subsequently converted into field regiment and currently it is a medium regiment handling 155mmFH77B02 (BOFORS). From the time the unit was raised, it has mastered 6 different equipment.
255 Medium Regiment has 49 years of glorious history in serving from the Himalayas to the jungles of North-East covering length and breadth of the country. Unit has also served in United Nations Peace Keeping Force(UNAMSIL).
