The 2024 local and mayoral elections in Bucharest take place on June 9, the same day as those for the European Parliament.

The incumbent mayor, Nicușor Dan, elected for the first time in 2020 when he challenged incumbent mayor Gabriela Firea (PSD), is running as an independent for re-election. It is supported by the United Right Alliance (consisting of USR, PMP and FD) but also by smaller parties such as REPER or the Green Party.

The former PSD mayor Gabriela Firea is running for a second non-consecutive mandate, after being defeated in 2020 by Nicușor Dan (then supported as an independent by the USR PLUS and PNL).
Cristian Popescu Piedone, mayor of Sector 5 from 2020 and former mayor of Sector 4 between 2008 and 2015, is running for Mayor from the PUSL Party.
After the withdrawal of Cătălin Cîrstoiu as a joint candidate of the PNL and PSD at the beginning of April, the Minister of Energy, Sebastian Burduja, announced his candidacy from the PNL for the position of mayor of Bucharest.
Also, other candidates are also running in the elections, such as the urbanist Alexandru Pînișoara from the Ecologist Party of Romania, the far-right senator Diana Șoșoacă and Enache Mihai from the Alliance for the Union of Romanians.[1][2]
