Summary

[edit]

The council had been under Conservative majority control prior to the election. After the election the Conservatives remained the largest group, but lost their majority. A coalition of Labour, the West Suffolk Independents, Liberal Democrats, Greens and independent councillors formed after the election, with Labour councillor Cliff Waterman being appointed the new leader of the council at the subsequent annual council meeting on 23 May 2023.[3][4]
