Český rozhlas Radiožurnál Sport is a Czech Radio station focusing on sports. It broadcasts live broadcasts of sporting events, thematic magazines, interviews and reports, supplemented by news reports and music. The station broadcasts its own programme from 6 am to midnight, while the rest of the time the Radiožurnál takes over.

History

[edit]

Sports broadcasting is a long-standing part of ČRo Radiožurnál, and in 2014-2017 a digital station/stream Czech Radio Sport was also operated[1][2].

The launch of Radiožurnál Sport was planned by Czech Radio for 2020 in connection with the Tokyo Summer Olympics. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, these were postponed until 2021, and the launch of the sports radio station was also postponed. Thus, its broadcast was launched on 21 May 2021 on the occasion of the 2021 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship[3]

Programming

[edit]

The station broadcasts own shows prepared by former athletes Martin Procházka, Andrea Sestini Hlaváčková and Kateřina Neumannová. The show On the Set is presented by actors and sports fans David Novotný, Ladislav Hampl and Pavel Nečas. The programme also regularly featured Vavřinec Hradilek.
