Dracaena angustifolia[1] is a species of Asian tropical forest under-storey plants in the family Asparagaceae; no subspecies are listed in the Catalogue of Life.[2]
Distribution and description
[edit]The native range of this species is from Bangladesh, through Indo-China and Malesia to northern Australia.[3] In Vietnam the plant may be called phất dủ lá hẹp.[4]
D. angustifolia is a shrub, up to 3 metres (9.8 ft) high, with leaves 150–250 millimetres (5.9–9.8 in) x 20–30 millimetres (0.79–1.18 in) wide. The yellowish flowers are about 20 millimetres (0.79 in) long.[4]
Use
[edit]The leaves are used to make green food coloring. D. angustifolia is used traditionally as medicine for several different ailments.[5][6] It is also planted as a hedge. [6]
