Life and career
[edit]Coleman began his career in stunts in 1983 on TV's The A-Team and The Dukes of Hazzard. In 1996, while doubling for Vincent Perez in The Crow: City of Angels (of which he was also serving as second unit director), Coleman suffered multiple serious injuries in a 23-story fall that nearly ended his career. He was performing a stunt in a harness meant to simulate a fall before it broke, called a descender.[2]
In 2018, Coleman received an Emmy nomination for his work on the HBO television series Westworld.[3]
Among the films he's served as second unit director on include Four Brothers, Analyze That, Punisher: War Zone, The Love Guru, Max, Blades of Glory, Winter's Tale, The Longest Yard, I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry, The Karate Kid, Get Smart, Run All Night, and Star Trek: Nemesis.[4]
He is married to fellow stunt performer Eliza Coleman, with whom he has two children, including stuntwoman Whitney Coleman.[5] He is also a member of the International Brotherhood of Magicians and the Blue Ribbon committee of the Taurus World Stunt Awards' Blue Ribbon committee.[6][7]
