Dominik Marczuk (born 1 November 2003) is a Polish professional footballer who plays for Major League Soccer club Real Salt Lake and the Poland national team.[2]

Club career

[edit]

Born in Międzyrzec Podlaski, Marczuk joined Górnik Łęczna's academy in 2017, but started his senior career with Podlasie Biała Podlaska as a 16-year-old.[3]

Stal Rzeszów

[edit]

After a season in the III liga, he joined Stal Rzeszów in the upper division, playing a central role in making them gain promotion in I liga.[4][5][6]

Jagiellonia Białystok

[edit]

In the summer of 2023, he joined Ekstraklasa club Jagiellonia Białystok as a free agent on a three-year deal.[3][7][8] He made his debut on 22 July 2023 in a 0–3 loss to Raków Częstochowa. He scored his first goal for the team on 27 August 2023, in a 4–1 win over Górnik Zabrze.[9]

He enjoyed an impressive start to his top division career, which included delivering a hat-trick of assists in a 3–2 comeback home win against Radomiak Radom on 17 September 2023,[10] which saw him voted as player of the round.[11] Marczuk appeared in all 34 league matches during the 2023–24 season, recording six goals and ten assists,[12] as Jagiellonia were crowned champions for the first time in the club's history.[13] At the conclusion of the season, he was voted the Ekstraklasa Young Player of the Season.[14]

Real Salt Lake

[edit]

On 14 August 2024, Major League Soccer side Real Salt Lake announced the signing of Marczuk until the end of 2028,[15] after exercising his €1.5 million release clause.[16] He debuted in his new club in a 2–0 victory over New England Revolution, which took place on 1 September.[2][17]

International career

[edit]

Marczuk is a youth international for Poland,[3] having played with the under-19 and under-20 by 2021.[18][19] He made his debut for the U21s on 12 October 2023 in a 2–2 draw against Slovakia.[20]

He received his first senior team call-up for matches against Estonia and Wales on 21 and 26 March 2024.[21] Eight months later, on 15 November, Marczuk made his full international debut and scored a late consolation goal in a 5–1 away UEFA Nations League defeat against Portugal.[22]
