Plot

[edit]

Long Xiang is a 13-year-old boy who likes dinosaurs. One evening, he put on a bracelet that he found in his grandpa's room, which teleported him to Hai Long Wan of Pangea. Long Xiang learned that he could return to Earth with the power of a dragon god, who could be called upon after collecting four dragon crystals.

During his journey to find the crystals, Long Xiang met three companions: Feng Ling, A Guo and Yu, all of whom were seeking the crystals for different reasons. Feng Ling wanted to make money through seizing baby dinosaurs, whereas A Guo wanted to realize his grandpa’s wish, and Yu wanted to obtain power. Each of them had one baby dinosaur companion that could evolve into a stronger form.

Initially, Feng Ling wanted to obtain Long Xiang's baby dinosaur, Bao Bao. After becoming friends and finding a dragon crystal together, Feng Ling changed his mind. A Guo, who was once a pirate boss, decided to join Long Xiang after learning about their search for the dragon crystals. During a struggle in their adventure, Yu appeared to save Long Xiang, Feng Ling, and A Guo, which led to the group's fourth additional member.

When they found the first dragon crystal in the Lu Bu La regional, they met the tyrant Hai Li Ba. Hai Li Ba had a Ji Bei dragon who could issue petrochemical rays. He built a dam to cut off a village's water supply, forcing the villagers to offer tributes under the threat that the hydrops would destroy the village. He also forced miner Da to surrender the location of an ancestral treasure house. After learning about Long Xiang's search for the crystals, Hai Li Ba also became interested in obtaining them. Long Xiang and his companions overcame Hai Li Ba, helped the villagers destroy the dam, and obtained the first dragon crystal from Xi Meng’s treasure house.

Across the Lu Bu La regional, Long Xiang and his companions entered an enchanted forest. The main energy hub of the forest was the eudemon tree, which was thousands of years old and controlled by Lily. However, the tree could no longer sustain the life force of the enchanted forest, which caused the land to fall into desolation and the local lakes to dry up. Various creatures and residents' minds had also been affected. Lily controlled the eudemon tree because she wanted to obtain the dragon crystals. She imprisoned her own and Yu’s teacher, Xian Yi, and wanted to obtain the skills to force Su Long's evolution. Her ultimate purpose was to become more powerful. Long Xiang and his companions defeated Lily and restored the tree eudemon’s life and power. Through the restoration, they found the dragon crystal that the tree had been protecting for the last several thousand years.

Long Xiang and his companions later arrived in Xi Ya country, where the old king was critically ill and in search of a princess who had been missing for many years. It was said that the princess could make plants grow just like her mother. Coincidentally, Feng Ling was the missing princess. More coincidentally, the king's scepter housed one of the dragon crystals that Long Xiang and his companions were searching for.

But things were not that easy. The Guo Shi of Xi Ya country had early forethought and wanted to seize the throne. He detained the queen to find the princess by one conspiracy after another. After the king’s loyal general met Feng Ling, she protected the long-missing princess fight to death. After the probes of Guo Shi learned about the dragon crystals, they rounded up Feng Ling and her companions in an attempt to obtain the three dragon crystals and to find the fourth crystal on their map. After obtaining all four cyrstals, they would own the power of the dragon god and conquer the whole continent.

It was up to Long Xiang and his friends to save and protect the continent.

Criticism

[edit]

Anime fans have criticized the series for plagiarizing Pokémon, Digimon and Naruto. Chinese Central Television (or CCTV), under the direct control of the Chinese Communist Party’s Central Propaganda Department, began airing Dinosaur Baby Holy Heroes in 2009. However, many viewers noted similarities between existing Japanese anime and Dinosaur Baby Holy Heroes. For example, the character designs for Yu and Sasuke Uchiha (from Naruto) were noted as similar. All four children on the show have a baby dinosaur companion, which parallels the Digimon series. Additionally, all the children wear a device that appears similar to a Digivice from Digimon. The clowns in the series emulated Team Rocket appearances in Pokémon. Due to the release of the series, the government of China decided to remove non-Chinese cartoon series from TV. The shows were forbidden because Chinese animators had used elements from Japanese comics.
