Dian Hong Jin Luo

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Dian Hong Jin Luo (Chinese: 滇红金螺) is a type of red tea that is known for its distinctive flavor and aroma. This tea is baked in Yunnan Province, China, and is noted for its high quality and cultural significance.

Origin and History

[edit]

Dian Hong Jin Luo tea is produced in the Simao, Pu'er, located in the southwest of Yunnan province, which is famous for its high-quality tea products. The name "Jin Luo" means "Golden Slug" and it comes from the shape of the twisted tea leaves, which resembles a stiffened slug.[1]

Production

[edit]

Dian Hong Jin Luo Golden Snail King is made from the hand-picked buds of the Yunnan Da Ye Large Leaf (雲南大叶) variety, which is also used to make numerous puers in the region. During the production process, the leaves are rolled by hand into small coils or snails. Since it is a pure bud tea, the snails have a very attractive pure golden color.

Taste

[edit]

After brewing, Dian Hong Jin Luo tea is greeted with an amber hue that serves as a visual preface to the rich taste experience that awaits. The first sip reveals a complex profile: a harmonious combination of sweet, honey flavor with a velvety smooth texture. The richness of this tea is balanced by a light fruity aroma that leaves a pleasant, long-lasting aftertaste.

The aroma of this tea is impressive, with notes of honey and nuances of delicate spice that evokes pleasant sensations. The richness of "Dian Hong Jin Luo" makes it an excellent choice for both tea lovers and beginners who are just starting their acquaintance with the world of red tea.[2]

Brewing

[edit]

It is recommended to use soft purified water heated to a temperature of 95-100 °C to make tea. Take one teaspoon of dry tea (with a small slide) for every 250-300 ml of volume of a cup or other brewing vessel. Pour water over the tea and leave it to steep for 3–5 minutes. If you want to soften the astringency and bitterness in the taste, it is recommended to pour the tea into another vessel after this time.[3]
