Deinacrida pluvialis is a species of insect in family Anostostomatidae. It is endemic to New Zealand. This wetas live in alpine area with Scree Wetas (Deinacrida connectens) ]], having not so much predators due to their habitat. Like scree wetas (Deinacrida connectens), they like living under rocks. Their color is usually orange, it is probably because of their habitat which have moss and dead plant that have the same color. They were found in the same range as Mt. Cook.
