David John Simonich III (born July 15, 1991) is an American musician, best known for being the current lead vocalist of American deathcore band Signs of the Swarm. He was also formerly part of Improvidence.[1]

Musical career

[edit]

David Simonich joined Pittsburgh-based deathcore band Improvidence in circa 2012 or 2013. The band released their singles and EPs with him, with their most popular being Bastard Born released in 2018.[2]

Simonich began touring with Signs of the Swarm in 2018 to fill-in for CJ McCreery who went on to join Lorna Shore. On June 26, 2018, it was announced that Simonich became the new offical vocalist for Signs of the Swarms, this would lead to Simonich parting ways with Improvidence.[3] Simonich helped SOTS rise to fame, which also helped him to gain more popularity, as this would be shown as he does guest appearances with other artists.[4] SOTS released Vital Deprivation, their first album with Simonich on October 11, 2019 through Unique Leader Records.[5] During the COVID-19 pandemic, The band released two new singles titled "Pernicious" and "The Collection", which featured Molotov Solution vocalist Nick Arthur and Kublai Khan vocalist Matt Honeycutt.[6][7] It was also during that time that the band was working on their Absolvere album, which was released on September 24, 2021.[8]

In 2021, Signs of the Swarm hired Jeff Russo as their new guitarist. Russo used to be in Improvidence with Simonich.

Signs of the Swarm signed with Century Media Records in 2022 and released their "Unbridled" single and Amongst the Low & Empty album with them.[9][10] On September 3, 2024, Simonich teased on his Facebook that Signs of the Swarm will be releasing a new single.[11] The band released the single titled "IWONTLETYOUDIE" on September 17, 2024 while they were on the Decade of the Swarms tour in celebration for 10 years as a band.[12]

Throughout his entire career, Simonich has toured with several bands such as Born of Osiris, Shadow of Intent, Fit For an Autopsy, Enterprise Earth, AngelMaker, Distant, Lorna Shore, Ov Sulfur, A Wake in Providence, Suicide Silence and many more.
