Dženana Vucic is a Bosnian-Australian writer, poet and essayist. She[a] is a regular contributor to numerous Australian literary journals including Cordite Poetry Review, Kill Your Darlings and Overland, and has also contributed to the Australian Multilingual Writing Project, Rabbit and Meanjin.[1] At various stages, Vucic has lived in Glasgow, Berlin, Konjic and Melbourne.[1][2]
Early life
[edit]Vucic was born in Bosnia and Herzegovina to a Bosnian Muslim (Bosniak) family.[2] As a child, she emigrated to Australia as a refugee during the Bosnian War of 1992–1995, along with her mother and sister.[3] She has written extensively about her experiences with her family around this time, particularly regarding her family switching from speaking Bosnian to speaking English after migrating to Australia.[3]
Education
[edit]Vucic was awarded a PhD in English Literature from the University of Glasgow.[1][4]
