D'Angelo Ponds is an American football cornerback for the Indiana Hoosiers. He previously played for the James Madison Dukes.
Early life and high school
[edit]Ponds attended high school at Chaminade-Madonna College Preparatory School located in Hollywood, Florida. Coming out of high school, Ponds was rated as a three star recruit, where he committed to play college football for the James Madison Dukes.[1][2]
College career

[edit]During Ponds true freshman season in 2023, he appeared in all 13 games with ten starts for the Dukes, where he totaled 51 tackles, 13 pass deflections, two interceptions, and a touchdown.[3] For his performance during his true freshman season, Ponds was named second team all Sun-Belt, while also being named a freshman all-American.[4][5] After the conclusion of the 2023 season, Ponds decided to enter his name into the NCAA transfer portal.[6][7]
Indiana
[edit]Ponds decided to transfer to play for the Indiana Hoosiers.[8][9] In week nine of the 2024 season, he notched two interceptions one of which he returned for a touchdown, as he helped the Hoosiers to a win over Washington.[10] For his performance versus the Huskies, he was named the Big Ten Conference defensive player of the week.[11]
