Czukty [ˈt͡ʂuktɨ] is a village in the administrative district of Gmina Kowale Oleckie, within Olecko County, Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship, in north-eastern Poland.[1]
It lies approximately 7 kilometres (4 mi) south-west of Kowale Oleckie, 14 km (9 mi) north-west of Olecko, and 127 km (79 mi) east of the regional capital Olsztyn. It is part of the region of Masuria.
History
[edit]Czukty was founded in 1560 by Mikołaj Czukta, who bought land to establish a village.[2] It was named after the founder. As of 1600, the population of the village was solely Polish.[2] In 1939, it had a population of 190.[2]
