The Cuatro Ciénegas slider (Trachemys taylori),[2][3] also known commonly as la jicotea de Cuatrociénegas in Spanish,[4] is a species of turtle belonging to the genus Trachemys of the family Emydidae. The species is native to northeastern Mexico.
Etymology
[edit]The specific name, taylori, is in honor of American herpetologist Edward Harrison Taylor.[5]
Geographic range
[edit]T. taylori is endemic to the Cuatro Ciénegas Basin in Coahuila state, Mexico.[3][2]
Habitat
[edit]The preferred natural habitat of T. taylori is freshwater wetlands.[1]
Conservation status
[edit]T. taylori is an endangered species.[1]
