Like all species within the genus Conus, these snails are predatory and venomous. They are capable of "stinging" humans,[citation needed] therefore live ones should be handled carefully or not at all.
The former subspecies Conus coelinae spiceri Bartsch & Rehder, 1943 has been elevated to the status of genus Conus spiceri Bartsch & Rehder, 1943
