City Engineering College was started in 2001 by the Jayanagar Education Society.^{[citation needed]} The college is located off Kanakapura Main Road, near Bangalore.^{[edition needed]}

The college is the sister project of AMC Engineering College, Bangalore.^{[citation needed]} It started a civil engineering branch in the 2011–12 academic year.^{[clarification needed]}
