Chris Read (songwriter)
Chris Read (born August 14, 1991) is a British writer, composer and performer best known for co-writing the songs for Ladybug and Cat Noir: The Movie (2023) and for the musical episode of Legacies (2022), as well as being half of musical comedy duo Harry and Chris.
Early life and education
[edit]Read was born and raised in London, England. He attended Twyford C of E High School, during which he won a busking competition run by the then mayor of London Boris Johnson,[1] before attending the Academy of Contemporary Music in Guildford.
Career
[edit]He won the Shure Jazz artist of the Year award in 2016, resulting in a performance at Montreux Jazz Festival with his quartet.[2]
He teamed up with childhood best friend and poet Harry Baker, to form the musical comedy duo Harry and Chris in 2016.[3] They wrote four 5-star, sold out Edinburgh Fringe shows, which they toured nationally, as well as appearing on The Russell Howard Hour and NBC's Bring the Funny.
During this time he started working on a musical TV adaptation of Richard Mason's History of a Pleasure Seeker, which was developed by Disney. At the same time he started working on Netflix's Ladybug and Cat Noir: The Movie, for which he co-wrote all nine songs, and contributed additional dialogue.
In 2023 he wrote the songs for Audible's Crush Hour, starring Ellie Goulding and Douglas Booth.[4]
In 2024 he worked on a musical sequence for Sony/Marvel's Venom: The Last Dance.
