Why is this cat needed?
[edit]Hello,
I think the 2007 Writers Guild of America strike article is great but I'm concerned the organization of these articles is getting muddled.
We currently have two overarching cats covering these WGAE and WGAw items: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_Affiliation_of_Writers_Guilds http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Writers%27_organizations
(I'm using the web links because I don't know how to reference these without adding this discussion page to those cats.)
The IAWG has the distinct advantage of actually existing whereas the generic "WGA" is basically just a misnomer based on sloppy reporting. (The description of the cat does specify that these are really two distinct organizations which is positive.)
I'm not sure how this category clarifies the situation. Please help me understand.DirectRevelation 20:06, 8 November 2007 (UTC)DirectRevelation

- This category was created because there were several WGA-related articles but no WGA category...however you raise a good point, that "WGA" may not exist per se but rather is a muddling of the East and West unions. I won't argue with you there, but I created the category to bring a few related articles together...are there enough articles for each to justify a category for each one? If so then this category should be split. If not, this category could be left in place because, while it bends the rules on whether or not the WGA "exists," it puts a few related articles together in one category, which is useful. (Do the two unions collaborate on the WGA awards, or in any other way? If so, then the WGA could be said to "exist.") Paul 06:15, 9 November 2007 (UTC)
Cat versus Disambig
[edit]There is a lot of interest in this group of subjects right now because of the strike with a lot of new content being added which is great. Based on that I'm willing to take a wait and see approach.
I suspect that the Writers Guild of America page (which is now a diambiguation) better serves to clarify the articles than this cat but maybe I'll be proven wrong.
Oh, I did remove this as a category on the disamg page because I couldn't find any other DA pages with cats. If anyone disagrees, I have no objection to it being re-added for now. DirectRevelation (talk) 20:25, 28 November 2007 (UTC)DirectRevelation
