Opposed speedy renaming
[edit] Moved from WP:CFDS
– [1] --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 01:33, 11 April 2018 (UTC)Category:Waterskiing to Category:Water skiing – C2C (Category:Water skiers, etc.), C2D (Water skiing). Personally I think this is poor style and it should be either "Waterskiing" or "Water-skiing", but that's an RM matter, and the category should match the article and other categories unless and until. — SMcCandlish ☏ ¢ 😼 05:58, 22 February 2018 (UTC)- @SMcCandlish: Wouldn't it be better to do the RM? "Waterskiing" is used in Cambridge, Oxford, and Merriam-Webster dictionaries, so it should be an uncontroversial RM . --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 09:07, 22 February 2018 (UTC)
- Either way is okay by me. I don't concern myself very much with style/grammar matters when it's a case of variations that a) are well-attested, and b) which do not violate MoS, though the category and article should match, regardless. I'll think on it and dig around in n-grams and whatnot. — SMcCandlish ☏ ¢ 😼 09:17, 22 February 2018 (UTC)
- This RM looks more defensible than I suspected, so I've gone that route. Thanks for the prodding. :-) — SMcCandlish ☏ ¢ 😼 09:21, 22 February 2018 (UTC)

- RM discussion is at Talk:Water skiing#Requested_move_22_February_2018. --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 21:52, 24 February 2018 (UTC)
- @SMcCandlish: The RM was closed as no consensus, so what't the next step here? Armbrust The Homunculus 22:55, 24 March 2018 (UTC)
- I suppose the category can be renominated for (speedy?) renaming. Marcocapelle (talk) 21:16, 26 March 2018 (UTC)
- @Marcocapelle: Certainly not speedy, C2D says it doesn't apply if " there has been a recent discussion concerning any of the pages that resulted in a no consensus result". Armbrust The Homunculus 14:13, 3 April 2018 (UTC)
