- Category: WTA 1000 to Category: WTA Tour 1000 per C2E (more fitting name) the tournaments therein are governed by the WTA Tour not the WTA. Didn't think things through when naming the cat. Qwerty284651 (talk) 00:18, 3 November 2022 (UTC)
- Oppose The main article of the category is WTA 1000 tournaments. Armbrust The Homunculus 02:25, 4 November 2022 (UTC)
- Yeah, because I set that article to be the main one. Had I've set it to some other article, you wouldn't have opposed it. Qwerty284651 (talk) 03:56, 4 November 2022 (UTC)
- True, and that would only be a binding oppose if you were using C2D. However, this seems to be one of those occasions where the category creator's initial thought was best after all. The wording "WTA Tour 1000" doesn't appear anywhere that I have seen. – Fayenatic London 17:49, 4 November 2022 (UTC)
- @Fayenatic london, if the wording does not appear does that mean the new cat. name does not qualify for a synonymous category or mayhaps even an article renaming to meet that criteria? Qwerty284651 (talk) 18:41, 4 November 2022 (UTC)
- @Qwerty284651: as there are three articles whose name uses "WTA 1000", then IMHO the category is fine as it is. If you want to rename the article, then I suggest you use WP:RM so that its new name (if agreed) could then qualify as a basis for speedily renaming the category. But sibling articles are e.g. WTA 500 tournaments (not WTA Tour 500), so the current name for the article WTA 1000 tournaments seems consistent with those.
- Presumably there is scope for growth? If after a few years there are still only three articles, then it would be appropriate to upmerge it to parent categories.
- If you did want the category to follow the article name "WTA 1000 tournaments", then this could be speedied as C2D (or unopposed C2E). – Fayenatic London 19:17, 4 November 2022 (UTC)
- C2D it is. I will take "WTA 1000 tournaments" for 500, please. Qwerty284651 (talk) 19:20, 4 November 2022 (UTC)
- Addendum, Cat. ATP Tour Masters 1000 exists, I was going for a matching name but for WTA, they are mirror tennis tours, one male one female....so...you get the drift. Qwerty284651 (talk) 19:23, 4 November 2022 (UTC)
