Bot1058 mostly clears this category now

[edit]

@Paine Ellsworth: FYI, in case you hadn't noticed, my Bot1058 task 4 is mostly clearing this category now. The algorithm for this one is more complicated than what's used to clear the other categories that the bot handles. But a more robust process than your previous combo of AWB followed up by AnomieBOT. My bot still leaves behind those talk pages which should be moved to re-sync them with their corresponding articles. Cases where someone moved the article but neglected to move its talk page as well. To editor wbm1058: thank you for this, thank you beyond words! Shall try to make time to help with the pages that need extra care.  Paine Ellsworth  put'r there  18:45, 1 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Articles with talk page redirects

[edit]

I created a new maintenance list using a Quarry query, Articles with talk page redirects which currently has over 2500 pages on it. This query is catching issues that our categorization system is not, because not all bad redirects have {{R from move}} templates populating maintenance categories on them.

As I started to work down this list I've run into some May 2017 edits which replaced redirects with the {{Talk page of redirect}} template to fix unsynchronized redirects using AWB and were briefly discussed at User talk:Paine Ellsworth/Archive 16#Redirect issue. I've begun fixing some of these by replacing the {{Talk page of redirect}} with a correct redirect. There's no reason for having a page with {{Talk page of redirect}} where there's not at least some old discussion(s) on the page below that template. Some that I've fixed so far include:

I guess maybe I should make Bot1058 a little smarter. – wbm1058 (talk) 22:01, 1 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
