[edit]- Note from closing admin - no consensus other than to rename. If the editors participating in this discussion can come to a final name decision on the talk page I will change this to RENAME. --Syrthiss 19:43, 16 January 2006 (UTC)
Naming
[edit]Should this be called United States student governments since this is the usual term in the United States for them? (For example, the category for Canada is Category:Canadian Students' Associations.) If there's no objection, I'd like to move this to Category:United States student governments; this will still remain a subcategory of Category:Students' unions. OCNative 06:21, 30 December 2005 (UTC)
"Student governments" (standard term) "in" (unambiguously indicates location and nothing else) "the United States" (duh). ~~ N (t/c) 23:50, 16 January 2006 (UTC)
- Came across today and was surprised as I thought consensus was "Student governments in the United States" as well. Perhaps it's time to re-submit. -choster 16:41, 12 April 2006 (UTC)
- No, if the two of you say thats what it was I'm good with dropping it into the rename queue without discussion. --Syrthiss 17:54, 12 April 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks, Category:Student goverments in the United States sounds fine to me.-choster 21:06, 12 April 2006 (UTC)

Article Standards
[edit]Please be careful when creating Student Government articles. I AFD'd several of them and most were deleted. They must conform with the notability standards of WP:ORG. Remember to gather reliable sources and don't include original research, like lists of officers. If you are a member of the student government, please see WP:COI to determine how to navigate your conflict of interest. --RedShiftPA (talk) 16:46, 24 March 2008 (UTC)
- In many cases, the list of officers wouldn't be original research - many student governments publish the lists online. Also, many campus newspapers will report them after elections. --Tim4christ17 talk 17:12, 24 March 2008 (UTC)
Sub categories by state
[edit]Second opinion requested: I think as there are enough of a diversity in the number of states that the student government represent, that it may be useful to categorise them by state (as I had done with New York). Feedback? Loki190 • Talk • 21:40, 25 May 2017 (UTC)
