[edit]Please could a category be put in for Statistical Forecasting?
There are a large number of quantitative forecasting techniques including exponential smoothing, ARMA, and a great many more, plus many other things to say about this topic.
I note there is aready an article about ARMA http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ARMA but it does not connect with entering "forecasting" in the search box. Similarly the article about "time series" does not connect.
I would expect after typing in "forecasting" to be offered the choice of "Statistical Forecasting" and any other types of forecasting. The Statistical Forecasting article would offer links to the many different quantitative forecasting techniques.
Currently typing "forecasting" in the search box gets you redirected to an article called "Prediction", which is like being redirected to "Astrology" when you enquire about "Astronomy"!
I do not know how to make the changes I have suggested, otherwise I would do it myself.
Thanks,
fred2
- I have applied your suggestions and created a page called Forecasting that links to the various articles on forecasting techniques.

Prob and Stats vs Stats
[edit]When should this category be used and when should Cat:Probability and Statistics be used? BrendanH 15:48, 7 March 2006 (UTC)
- Seconded. To be more precise, when should I use Category:Statistics and when should I use Category:Probability and statistics? 71.41.210.146 16:54, 19 June 2007 (UTC)
- Oh. Figured it out Stats is a subcategory of Prob and Stats. Use Stats if possible, go up to Prob and Stats if not. 71.41.210.146 16:59, 19 June 2007 (UTC)
