(creator) thanks, I wasn't sure so went for the opposite of the existing '(football)' cat, but I have since seen that the other clubs with multiple sections (or 2 separate clubs with the same name) have no disambiguation for the rugby players when it is the more popular so agree it should be removed. The main page here for the rugby team is Stade Bordelais, with the football team using a disambiguator, why would the rugby team need a disambiguator as well. It's not used for other rugby teams in similar situations or in other sports?. Rugbyfan22 (talk) 19:26, 21 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
The football team uses the disambiguator, therefore I don't understand this logic. For FC Barcelona players we use the category Category:FC Barcelona players. There's loads of FC Barcelona teams so why don't we disambiguate here as well. The disambiguator should be (rugby union) anyway if no change is decided anyway. Yeah, not sure if it's a solid rule but certainly standard practice in a few multi-discipline clubs for the main sport to have no prefix (unless the sport is in its name of course) and others to have parentheses. French rugby union already has a few examples (Stade Montois, Béziers Hérault off the top of my head from adding them to articles recently). I realise I wasn't following that rule myself with Bordelais, but wasn't sure if the rugby section was well enough known either due to its heydey being about a century ago and now merged into another club - however with RugbyFan having brought it up, I agree that it is more important than the football team which has never played higher than regional level as far as I know.
