Preface
[edit]This category, like many others, needs a substantial preface —which must indicate answers to the next section. --P64 (talk) 15:42, 7 May 2012 (UTC)
National (science fiction) novels
[edit]Do we have any discussion of the basis for national classification?
The sub-categories for science fiction novels, etc, are nested and compose a hierarchy only if there is a common sense in which science fiction, its novels and movies, its writers and illustrators, and so on, are national.
See also Category talk: Science fiction by nationality.
See also Category talk: Fantasy novels by nationality. But fantasy is more complex than science fiction because one more basis for national classification may seem appropriate: by relation to national culture on a timescale marked in millenia rather than generations. Eg, fantasy may be Welsh by its relation to Welsh mythology. --P64 (talk) 15:42, 7 May 2012 (UTC)
