coverage
[edit]Beside the seven players with pages now in the category, Marshall Wright lists these other members of the 1870 team.
- Joe Doyle, 1870 1b
- Tom Foley (outfielder), 1870 3b
- Fred Cone (baseball), 1870 of
- Barstow, 1870 of,1b
Those are three regulars and one sub. Relying on memory too, I give red links to the major leaguers only. P64 (talk) 21:10, 15 February 2009 (UTC)
- Possibly that is Joe Doyle of the 1872 Washington Nationals, a shortstop and Virginia native
- The Forest Citys were openly professional only in 1870 although Barnes or Spaldings later recalled splitting gate receipts by the end of the decade. The 1870 replaced only two regulars from 1869, outfielders Ballard Osborne and Chesney or Chaney by 1B Doyle and OF Simmons. --P64 (talk) 05:26, 16 February 2009 (UTC)
