Game show contestants
[edit]Is it appropriate to have this category be a subcat of Category:Game show contestants? Tinlinkin 08:08, 7 December 2006 (UTC)
- As reality television is not strictly defined as a subset of game shows, and Category:Reality television series is not a subset of Category:Game shows, I will delete the game show contestant connection with this category. Tinlinkin 14:32, 9 December 2006 (UTC)
Proposal to create Category:Reality television staff
[edit]From Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Television#Reality contestants, hosts & judges vs. participants and Wikipedia:Categories for deletion/Log/2006 December 6#Category:Idol series contestants, I am proposing to create Category:Reality television staff to include people appearing on reality shows who are not contestants or participants. "Participants" and "contestants" are very synonymous with each other, and I believe they should be distinct from non-contestants (hosts, judges, advisors, consultants, etc.). To discuss further, Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Television#Reality contestants, hosts & judges vs. participants is probably the best forum. Tinlinkin 08:00, 11 December 2006 (UTC)
- Since there has been no discussion, and I have lost my commitment and passion for this category sorting, I am withdrawing this proposal, unless someone else supports the above. Tinlinkin 07:16, 6 January 2007 (UTC)
- Well, it might be better to create Category:Reality television stars, but even that is iffy since participants can become stars from the reality show. I'm not sure how to classify--ah, perhaps as "cast" (as in cast member) and "crew" (as in film crew), but even "cast" denotes "star"...hmm. -Єερ² (τ|c) 14:00, 20 May 2007 (UTC)
Is this really necessary?
[edit]Probably late to the party and shouting into the wind here, but...
99% of reality contestants are footnotes to footnotes to history. If the only thing that makes someone "noteworthy" enough for inclusion here is that she was the 3rd runner up on the 5th season of The Apprentice, should that person really merit an article?
It's the sort of thing that would have to be evaluated on a case-by-case basis, which makes it maybe unworkable. But I was looking through some of these reality TV people and seeing that some had built long entries for themselves that would never be allowed to stand without the single reality TV appearance.
