[edit]- Category:Paintings of the Circumcision of Christ to
Category:Paintings of the Circumcision of JesusCategory:Paintings of the circumcision of Jesus – C2D per Circumcision of Jesus Good Ol’factory (talk) 03:20, 23 September 2020 (UTC)- Oppose Jesus is a fine choice for an article on the incident, but "Christ" is always used for titles of historic art showing subjects from the Life of Christ in art. GO, you were VERY BADLY MISTAKEN thinking these were uncontroversial! Plus the caps are wrong too! Johnbod (talk) 17:40, 25 September 2020 (UTC)
- You overstate your position. It's not always used. There is Circumcision of Jesus (Parmigianino). Good Ol’factory (talk) 01:59, 29 September 2020 (UTC)
- No, you don't understand how these things work - that's a made-up name by a Wikipedian. The museum just calls it The Circumcision, and you can bet Vasari's account does the same, or uses Christ. A gbooks search shows most RS just use The Circumcision, but here a Metropolitan NY catalogue uses "Christ". Johnbod (talk) 02:15, 29 September 2020 (UTC)
- I was (I thought, obviously) referring to the article names of the contents of the category, since that is what has been referred to in other nominations here. I was not commenting on whether those names were per se "correct". Good Ol’factory (talk) 02:26, 29 September 2020 (UTC)
- Well, I was referring to whether it was correct or not. I'll move it if it makes you any happier. Johnbod (talk) 02:37, 29 September 2020 (UTC)
- I'm happy. It's up to you. Good Ol’factory (talk) 02:47, 29 September 2020 (UTC)
