Report on coverage

[edit]

Following the rename of categories for NBA "winning works" in Fiction and Young People's Literature categories, yesterday I created this category (using the newly standard name) and filled it. All of these initial member articles at least mention that the books won the National Book Award for Nonfiction and provide a specific reference to the annual list of winners and finalists at NBF. (Example <ref name=nba1998> [http://www.nationalbook.org/nba1998.html "National Book Awards – 1998"]. [[National Book Foundation]]. Retrieved 2012-02-21.</ref>)

This report covers the same 56 awards for "Fiction" or "General Nonfiction" that are specified in the category preface; that is, no nonfiction subcategories except the General Nonfiction hardcover and paperback of 1980:1983.

56 Fiction and General Nonfiction winners whose articles evidently belong here, namely one annually 1936:1941, 1950:1963, 1984:2011 (48) and two annually from 1980:1983 (8 awards)
32 Nonfiction winning works without wikipedia articles (manual count from our list of winners)
24 winning works with articles here
1 of 6, 1936:1941
4 of 14, 1950:1963
4 of 8, 1980:1983
15 of 28, 1984:2011
24 articles in this category (automatically reported on the Category page)

Thus the category does initially represent wikipedia coverage of the winning works accurately. --P64 (talk) 00:05, 21 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
