Cleaning up this category
[edit]the various deities need to get sorted by Māori goddess (a sub-cat. of Māori deity) or Māori god (also a sub-cat. of Māori deity). please?***Ria777 08:10, 13 September 2006 (UTC)
- Good idea in theory. But since a lot of the articles were started as stubs from an unreliable source (Encyclopedia Mythica), the priority has been to verify all the articles first - otherwise the gender might be wrong, and even the 'deity' bit. However if the article clearly identifies its subject as a god or goddess, AND it has verified sources, you could add the categories as you suggest. Not all of the articles deal with deities. That has been another problem with Encyclopedia Mythica and non-Pacific sources generally - everything gets called a god. However please don't remove them from the Māori mythology category at this stage - that can be done fairly simply later. Kahuroa 10:49, 13 September 2006 (UTC)
Description of category scope needed
[edit]This category needs a description that indicates whether or not it includes legends that have an historical basis and do not involve supernatural beings or events. I assumed from the title that it would not include legends, but it appears from the contents that it does cover legends. Nurg (talk) 09:58, 29 September 2024 (UTC)
