This list of musicians by instrument seems to be rather random but, I think, a good start. I really don't want to take on the responsibility of adding or critiquing the information already here. But I DO want to suggest that the folks responsible for instruments listed also include TUBA and BASS TROMBONE For tuba, I would suggest a couple of names: Tommy Johnson (passed away in 2006) who was, according to conductor John Williams, one of the greatest instrumentalists who ever lived. Tho I never came close to living up to his teaching, he was a god to me. He is best known as the tuba player who was "jaws." But he also played more studio dates than anyone in Hollywood from the 1960s thru 2000. Also on tuba is the great Roger Bobo, whose talent is evident from the few places he can be found on YouTube. He still is, I believe, the principle tubist for the Los Angeles Philharmonic. There are many others including Arnold Jacobs (don't know if he is still around) of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and Wes Jacobs who the Detroit Symphony (no relation, at least to my knowledge) There are most certainly many more, including the tuba player for the London Symphony who I have heard but do not know his name. I think Wes Jacobs is probably the best living authority on tubists. Sadly he is best known on YouTube as part of the Carpenters (i.e. Karen Carpenter) - sad because his fabulous musicianship should be heard by more people. For bass trombone it is Jeff Reynolds of the L.A. Phil that I think of. All of these listed, I believe, would be honored by anyone who plays those instruments, and they all are, or were, highly respected. SkipSurguine (talk) 01:03, 11 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
