Doh! You're right. But, they're not always used correctly, probably because the distinction between "law" and "legal" as a descriptor is not inherent in the term. For instance, the National Lawyers Guild doesn't regulate, nor do many other bar associations -- city bar associations, for instance. In fact, only some state bar associations regulate (e.g., California); others are voluntary associations and do not have regulatory functions (e.g., Massachusetts). That distinction is going to be verrrry confusing for people looking for associations, and finding some bar assns in one category and others in another. Maybe the useful distinction is "associations of lawyers" versus other law-related associations? ... or, perhaps, "Legal regulatory associations" as a subcategory of law-related associations? --LQ17:57, 30 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
