I found that ACL Scripting language is much too cumbersome to use. IDEA uses VBA language which is much easier to program in, to learn, and maintain.
I think that the Internal Audit Survey was inaccurate. Just because an Internal Audit department has a license it does not mean that the auditors actually are using the software. For example, when I was at PricewaterhouseCoopers, the company had a global license. At the time, PricewaterhouseCoopers had a head-count of 160,000 people. I do not know a single person who actually used ACL. I suspect that companies keep renewing the licenses because the users are afraid to admit that ACL is just too user unfriendly, and that they do not know how to use it.
