I just added some 3D formats to this category, then realized that most of the existing ones were 2D. It appears that there should be some further sub-categories here, maybe something like:
2D vector file formats (i.e. DWG)
2D raster file formats (i.e. GIF, JPG, BMP)
3D tessellated file formats (i.e. STEP, VRML, STL, JT)
3D NURBS file formats (this already exists, it's just called "CAD" formats)
