This was created to separate LGBT politicians into distinct categories for gay, lesbian, bisexual and trans politicians in much the same way as already existed within Category:LGBT writers. I'm not going to agree or disagree as to whether it's better to do that or have them all filed in a single category, but that's why it was done. Bearcat 23:48, 15 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

when i clicked the link to "Gay Politicians", i thought i would see 2 or 3 people, i was wrong. --69.67.230.10 03:03, 8 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

gay is not lgbt? this is queer, I thought LGBT is a collective term which stands for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender sexual and gender identities. but you always learn surfing wikipedia. Sebastian scha. (talk) 09:18, 8 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Criteria

[edit]

Someone just added Roy Cohn to this category. To the best of my knowledge, he was "in the closet" his entire life. While he may have been gay, and he may have been a politician, he wasn't really a "gay politician" which implies the public knew he was gay. Perhaps there should be a subcategory for "closeted gay politicians". ·:· Will Beback ·:· 07:41, 2 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Note that List of the first LGBT holders of political offices only allows people who come out before leaving office. ·:· Will Beback ·:· 07:45, 2 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
