Parent categories

I have removed Category:Geographic history of Ireland as a parent category, because the scope of this category is much wider than Ireland: categories should be parented in more general categs, not more specific ones.

Why is the Irish Republic included in this list? Has something happened that I don't know about? Liamfoley (talk) 20:15, 25 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

By making this category a subcat of Category:Geographic history of Ireland, Category:Kingdoms of Wales and Category:Petty kingdoms of England end up as part of Category:Ireland, which is wrong. --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 20:53, 22 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

This category is wrong anyway as most of the articles included in it are about former kingdoms and polities: that does not equal country with all that term implies about nationality and so forth. Enaidmawr (talk) 19:12, 11 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
