Does it matter how far in the future?

[edit]

This category was recently added to the film 2012. The events in the film are technically set in the future relative to when the film was released, but it seems to me to be a bit silly to categorize it as being set in the future when the future isn't very far ahead of the present. Criteria

[edit]

Does a film *partly* set in the future belong to this category?

Case in point: Cloud Atlas (film) is composed of 6 episodes:

  • Pacific Islands, 1849
  • Cambridge / Edinburgh, 1936
  • San Francisco, 1973
  • London, 2012
  • Neo Seoul, 2144
  • Big Island, 106 winters after The Fall (2321)

Three in the past, one contemporary to the film's shooting, two in the future.

I'd say yes. In my experience categories of this nature are inclusive, so if any part of the film fits into the category then it's appropriate to add the category. DonIago (talk) 12:43, 17 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
