It was the last season in which the County Championship was the predominant domestic competition. In 1969, the Sunday (now National) League began and caused a reduction in championship matches; they were further reduced in 1972 when the B&H Cup began. 1969 was in effect the start of the limited overs era. --BlackJack | talk page 15:03, 7 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
