Q: Should we disregard IMOS when we think it's appropriate to do so (or perhaps delete it completely), or should we rename this category and related sub-categories? Now come on! No hedging around on this one. You can't have it both ways. 86.23.116.200 (talk) 19:09, 29 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Note the sign on the top of the category about a discussion on deleting the category for that reason. Feel free to voice your opinion through the link if you like, one way or the other. Canterbury Tailtalk00:18, 30 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Well done for keeping that neutral, Canterbury Tail - wouldn't want anyone to accuse you of canvassing. However, 86.23.116.200 - may I call you 86.23.116.200? - this doesn't infringe IMOS. County Derry is recognised (in the first few words of that article) as an alternative name for "County Londonderry", a former administrative county that no longer has any legal existence but is still widely used in popular culture. County Derry is also the only name that has ever been used for the GAA county (broadly the same in extent as the former administrative county, but occasionally taking in clubs from across the former county border) for the past 128 years. There are those on Wikipedia who seek to replace every instance of "County Derry" with "County Londonderry", but others who see the sense in using the former to refer to (at least) GAA matters. Let's hear your views. Brocach (talk) 21:01, 3 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
If it is an alternative name for the same thing, it doesn't need two articles, and nor does it need two categories. Multiple names for the same topics are handled in printed publications by cross-references, and in Wikipedia by redirects. ---BrownHairedGirl(talk) • (contribs) 05:19, 12 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
