Planets & disks

[edit]

It is conjectured that most or all main sequence stars with planets may also possess a disk system. However, this has not confirmed. There are also processes (such as Poynting-Robertson drag) that can remove dust from a system over a relatively short lifetime, making confirmation difficult. Hence this category only includes stars where the presence of a disk has been confirmed, usually by observation of an infrared excess.—RJH (talk) 17:30, 19 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
