I do not understand the distinction between the categories Children and Childhood. For instance, Children's festivals and Children's films are classified in Children but Childrens' books and Childrens' clothes are classified in childhood. Shouldn't these two categories be merged? Even the main articles in both categories redirect to the same article.
I think Children should be reserved for people, and childhood for subjects related to childrens lives.havent checked yet to see if this has been sorted out yet.Mercurywoodrose (talk) 07:38, 19 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
This is a problematic category. "Children" is not all the same as "people who became notable as children". I suggest it should be moved accordingly. PatGallacher (talk) 20:57, 1 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Also people who became notable as children would cover the bulk of the sub-categories here, but not "military brats". Clarification is needed. PatGallacher (talk) 21:02, 1 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I came to the talk page with the same question. example: Kim Jong-il was a child of a national leader, and later became a national leader, as will likely his son. This makes the brief description for this category inaccurate for anyone who really wasnt notable until after 18 (though jong il was notable as a child, so not a great example of this problem), but qualifies for one of these categories. The military brat example is a perfect example of this categories poor definition. On WP, once you are something, you are that something permanently. no one is a "former child star". I will try to rewrite the definition to include all the current subcats.Mercurywoodrose (talk) 07:38, 19 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, i changed all the articles not about children to "childhood". i redefined the category to include military brats. WE could also create a category for adult survivors of child abuse, which would belong here. I am not sure what to do with "2000s births" and "2010s births" (and twentyfirst c births). As of this year, all births after about 1993 recorded her would make people notable as children. obviously, people born before that year MAY have become notable as children. So what happens in 2020? do we remove "2000s births" since by that time a small percentage of the names on the list will be people known only after they became adults? i REALLY dont like the idea of having to delete categories over time. I think we may have to scrap these three, and just be sure that each person born in the 2000s and 2010s is included in one of the subcategories of this category.Mercurywoodrose (talk) 08:17, 19 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
