Category name
[edit]This category seems far too generic. I propose changing it to something like "Famous black-and-white photographs", with a definition that the photos in this category must have appeared in one of the major history of photography books. Thoughts? Lexaxis7 (talk) 02:04, 10 January 2011 (UTC)
- Category rename proposals are made using WP:CFD. That said, I doubt that anyone would want to add "famous" to the category name. Every article that appears in WP is supposed to be notable, or "famous" in some way. Therefore, every article that would appear in this category would be understood by implication to be notable or famous. For example, the category Category:British people contains notable or famous British people, but we don't need to call it Category:Famous British people. - Point well made. Thanks for the clarification.Lexaxis7 (talk) 17:57, 10 January 2011 (UTC)
Opposed speedy renaming

- Category:Black-and-white photographs to Category:Monochrome photographs – C2B: per Monochrome photography/Category:Monochrome photography. Armbrust The Homunculus 17:09, 6 March 2018 (UTC)
- Oppose speedy - While I do not necessarily oppose the change itself, it would expand the scope of the category. Black-and-white photographs are a subset of monochrome photographs, and this category is currently a child of Category:Black-and-white media. -- Black Falcon (talk) 06:11, 7 March 2018 (UTC)
- Stale: @Armbrust No comments in 7 days, so this discussion is now stale, and I am going to remove it. It can of course be proposed as a full CfD discussion. --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 15:46, 15 March 2018 (UTC)
